Not only Andy Murray, but also the German Angelique Kerber (36) is ending her career at the Summer Games in Paris.
Angelique Kerber announced her decision on her Instagram channel the day before the opening ceremony.
Angelique Kerber won three Grand Slam tournaments: the Australian Open 2016, Wimbledon 2018 and the US Open 2016. Eight years ago, she was the world number 1. This year, she only won 7 out of 21 singles matches on her comeback after a year and a half break, but at least defeated a top 10 player in Indian Wells, Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko.
Kerber is currently ranked 216th in the world.
