Grace Brown confirms her Olympic victory with the World Championship triumph in Zurich. The 32-year-old Australian wins the elite time trial.

On the almost 30 km from Gossau in Zurich to the Zurich lake basin, she took 16 seconds from Demi Vollering from the Netherlands, who lives in Switzerland. Bronze went to defending champion Chloé Dygert. The American lost almost a minute, but still kept the up-and-coming German Antonia Niedermaier at bay, who in turn won the U23 classification.

In the absence of Marlen Reusser, Elena Hartmann achieved the best Swiss result in 13th place, 2:49 minutes behind. At the Olympic Games in Paris, the athlete from Graubünden had finished 17th.

The winner, Grace Brown, confirmed after the race that she would be ending her career. The Australian is suffering from homesickness. Unlike her colleagues from Europe or the USA, she cannot simply travel home quickly to recharge her batteries.
