The American Kenneth Bednarek successfully takes revenge in the 200m race at the Diamond League final in Brussels. He defeats Botswana's Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo.

Bednarek, Olympic silver medallist in Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 and silver medallist at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, came within a tenth of his personal best in 19.67 seconds in low temperatures and a slight tailwind. The American has now already secured a starting place for the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

Neither the US Olympic champion Gabrielle Thomas nor the sprint aces Julien Alfred from St. Lucia or Sha'Carri Richardson (USA) were at the start in the women's 200m race. Olympic bronze medalist Brittany Brown therefore took the check for 30,000 dollars.

American Brittany Brown, who won silver in the 200 m in Doha in 2019 ahead of Mujinga Kambundji, came out on top in 22.20 seconds. Mujinga Kambundji, who did not make the trip to Brussels, could have fought for third place in this field. A time of 22.61 seconds was required for a podium finish.
