Biniam Girmay won the sprint in Villeneuve-sur-Lot after a flat stage over 204 km. This is the Eritrean's third victory in this year's Tour de France.

There were no changes to the top 3 in the overall classification, with the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar still leading Remco Evenepoel by 1:06 minutes after twelve stages and 1:14 ahead of last year's winner Jonas Vingegaard. However, fourth-placed Primoz Roglic lost a lot of time after a crash 10 km into the race.

Vingegaard has come back stronger than expected after his crash in the spring. He will have to wait until Saturday to challenge Pogacar in the Pyrenees. A transfer stage to Pau is on the program on Friday.
