After the New Jersey Devils, featuring the Swiss trio of Nico Hischier, Timo Meier and Jonas Siegenthaler, opened the NHL season with two wins against the Buffalo Sabres in Prague at the weekend, the best ice hockey league in the world returned to its traditional habitat in North America.
The champions from Florida made the difference in the first period in the rematch of last year's playoff quarter-final. Two double strikes within just over a minute at the start and exactly a minute at the end of the period put the home team on the road to victory. Canadian Sam Bennett was celebrated as a two-goal scorer.
Due to Hurricane Milton, it was not clear for a long time whether the game could be played.
