The defending champions Genève-Servette should qualify for the round of 16 of the Champions Hockey League after all. The team won 5:2 in Hungary to conclude the group games.
Genève-Servette had some problems at the start in Szekesfehervar, but got on track in the middle third. Simon Le Coultre gave Geneva the lead for the first time 44 seconds before the second interval, and Josh Jooris made it 3:1 18 seconds into the final period.
With ten points from their six games, the defending champions should be spared the embarrassment of elimination in the preliminary round. With four more games on Tuesday evening and six on Wednesday, there are hardly any scenarios in which Servette will be eliminated.
The remaining three Swiss teams, ZSC Lions, Lausanne and Fribourg-Gottéron, had already qualified early for the round of 16 on November 12-13 and 19-20.
