Enea Bastianini takes a double victory in the MotoGP class at Silverstone. After the sprint, he also wins the main race. Jorge Martin regains the lead in the world championship standings.
Ducati rider Bastianini took his first victories of the year at the race weekend in England, his sixth overall in a Grand Prix in the most important category of the Road World Championship. On the circuit in Silverstone, the Italian won the sprint ahead of the Spaniard Martin, who regained the top position in the overall standings.
The Spaniard now has a three-point lead over the previous leader Francesco Bagnaia. The Italian, world champion for the past two years and, like Bastianini and Martin, riding a Ducati, finished third after his crash in the sprint.
20th place for Dettwiler
In the Moto3 category, Noah Dettwiler on a KTM was unable to finish higher than 20th. The 19-year-old from Basel never had the chance to get into the fight for a countable result, i.e. a place in the top 15.
The Spaniard Ivan Ortola, who started from pole position and also rode a KTM, took his second victory of the season ahead of the Colombian David Alonso, who is the clear leader in the overall standings.
