Simon Ehammer has to make do with third place and 7.99 m as a long jumper at Athletissima. He missed out on victory by just seven centimeters.

The field of long jumpers was top class, although there were only two 8m jumps. Greece's dominator Miltiadis Tentoglou secured victory in the last attempt (8.06). The Jamaican Wayne Pinnock recorded 8.01 meters. Ehammer made three attempts between 7.92 and 7.99 m, but for once the 8 m mark would not fall. The man from Appenzell has already won twice in the Diamond League. In Lausanne, the competitors would have kept the door open for a third coup.

Lionel Spitz from Zurich still wants to break the Swiss record this season. He fell well short of Mathias Rusterholz's 44.99 seconds, set at the Athletissima 1996, in 45.82 on lane 2.

Dominic Lobalu completed a speed test over the 1500m. With a time of 3:34.39 minutes and a personal best, this turned out well for the European 10,000 m champion.

Jason Joseph did not get going in the 110 m hurdles. The man from Basel let the run slip away in 13.78 seconds in frustration. European 200 m champion Timothé Mumenthaler did better in 20.54 seconds. He won the Swiss duel against William Reais (20.75).
