Swiss professional cyclist Sébastien Reichenbach has to end his career prematurely after a training crash.
As reported by "Le Nouvelliste", Reichenbach broke his right collarbone in a crash during training on Monday. The 35-year-old from Lower Valais underwent surgery on Tuesday.
Reichenbach is therefore out of the Tour of Lombardy on October 12. The last major one-day race of the season should have marked the end of his long career for the 2019 Swiss champion, who was strong on the climbs.
Reichenbach was active as a professional for 14 seasons and took part in nine Grand Tours (including four times in the Tour de France). Before joining the Swiss team Tudor at the start of 2023, he rode for Groupama-FDJ for seven years. Before that, he was also under contract for the former Swiss World Tour team IAM Cycling.
