As expected, the first individual time trial of the 111th Tour de France is an affair for Remco Evenepoel. The Swiss time trial aces had to admit defeat in the Belgian's victory.
Remco Evenepoel completed the 25 km course in the Burgundy region fastest in the jersey of the world champion. Tadej Pogacar lost 12 seconds in second place.
The Slovenian thus successfully defended his lead in the overall classification. After a third of the 21 stages, he is 33 seconds ahead of Evenepoel.
The Swiss time trial trump cards Stefan Küng and Stefan Bissegger in 10th and 12th place respectively were unable to intervene in the battle for the stage win.
