Just like last year, Fabian Staudenmann wins the Oberaargau Festival. The Bernese wrestler from Guggisberg defeats Lukas Döbeli from north-western Switzerland in the final round.

Staudenmann celebrated a superior victory in Burgdorf. The 24-year-old went into the final round with five victories, which he won after two minutes against the surprising Döbeli. He successfully defended his title for the third time this year. He had already won the Oberland and Central Switzerland titles in 2023 and 2024. His 13th wreath victory came in Burgdorf.

Döbeli was in second place after five rounds together with Janis Iseli and Curdin Orlik. 24-year-old Döbeli was allowed to contest the final round after defeating Matthias Aeschbacher, a Swiss national, in the fifth round. The defeat to Staudenmann saw him drop back to 5th place, but he still took his 19th wreath.

Burgdorf, which welcomed 9500 spectators on the national holiday, will remain the focus of the wrestlers over the next few days. The Emmental championships will take place there on Saturday and the Bernese cantonal championships in a week's time on Sunday.
