Kriens-Lucerne, the play-off finalists of the past two seasons, started the NLA season with a commanding 34:23 home win against Wacker Thun.
The team from central Switzerland led 8:2 after 16 minutes, after which the Bernese Oberland side never got closer than five goals. While the two goalkeepers from Kriens-Lucerne, Kevin Bonnefoi (10) and Sven Näf (7), recorded a total of 17 saves, the goalkeeping duo from Wacker only fended off six shots. The top scorer of the game was Thun's director Flavian Römer with seven goals.
GC Amicitia, the favorites, also prevailed in Wednesday's second match. The Zurich side won 26:21 at newly promoted RTV Basel, with the difference at the break (16:11) already five goals in favor of the visitors. In the 49th minute, the score was 25:17 in favor of GC Amicitia.
