Brazil loses to Uruguay in the quarter-finals of the Copa America. After a goalless 90 minutes, the record world champions lost 2:4 on penalties.
Uruguayan goalkeeper Sergio Rochet saved the penalty shoot-out against Brazil's first shooter, Eder Militão. Douglas Luiz, who started third for the Seleção, hit the post. For Uruguay, only Jose Maria Gimenez failed with his attempt.
In the hard-fought match in Las Vegas, Uruguay were outnumbered from the 74th minute - Nahitan Nandez was sent off with a red card after video evidence for a tackle on Rodrygo. After 90 minutes, the game went to penalties without extra time.
A disappointing Copa America ended prematurely for Brazil. The record world champions, who had to do without star striker Neymar at the tournament in the USA, had already failed to shine in the preliminary round. In addition to draws against Colombia and Costa Rica, they only managed a win against Paraguay.
