Inter Milan concede points for the first time on matchday 5 of the Champions League. Real Madrid win thanks to Kylian Mbappé and PSG also secure three points.
After the defeat in the Milan derby against AC Milan at the weekend, Inter Milan suffered another setback in the Champions League. Jose Gimenez scored for Atletico Madrid in the 93rd minute to make the final score 2:1 after an even game.
The last-minute defeat was a bitter one for Inter, who had never lost in the top flight this season and now had to surrender their lead at the top of the table.
Arsenal's exclamation mark in top duel
In the top-of-the-table clash between Arsenal and FC Bayern, both clubs had not conceded any points in the top flight so far and lead their domestic leagues, but the Londoners came out on top. The 3:1 victory against Bayern not only secured Arsenal three points, but also the sole lead in the table.
The other two English clubs in action ended their matches with defeats. Liverpool suffered a surprisingly clear 4-1 defeat at the hands of Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, while Tottenham were beaten by defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. Despite trailing twice, coach Luis Enrique's team finally managed a 5:3 victory.
Real Madrid win thanks to Mbappé
After the 2-2 draw against Elche in La Liga at the weekend, Real Madrid again found the match against Olympiakos Piraeus surprisingly difficult. Nevertheless, thanks in large part to Kylian Mbappé, the result was a 4:3 victory. After conceding an early goal, the French international scored a hat-trick within seven minutes (22nd, 24th, 29th) before scoring again after the break and a goal from the Greeks to secure victory for the Whites.
Earlier in the evening, AS Monaco had already let victory slip from their grasp in the final minutes against Pafos FC with Denis Zakaria and Philipp Köhn. An own goal by Mohammed Salisu in the 88th minute meant the game ended 2-2. Captain Zakaria played through, while goalkeeper Köhn did not feature.
Aurèle Amenda also did not play for Eintracht Frankfurt. The Swiss defender with four international caps had to watch his team's 3-0 defeat against Atalanta Bergamo from the bench.
