Marc Hirschi uses his impressive form to take another victory.
After the classic in San Sebastian, the Bretagne Classic and the GP Industria & Artigianato, the Bernese rider won his fourth one-day race in a row with the 72nd edition of the Coppa Sabatini.
Hirschi, who will switch from Team UAE Emirates to the Swiss team Tudor Pro Cycling next season, attacked from a leading group 36 kilometers before the finish and rode solo in the Pisa region ahead of the Austrian Georg Mühlberger and the Dane Anders Foldager. His lead over the first chasers was 28 seconds after the almost 200 kilometers.
Two and a half weeks before the World Championship road race in Zurich, Hirschi celebrated his seventh win of the season and his second in a row at the Coppa Sabatini. Last year, the 26-year-old beat Frenchman Pavel Sivakov in a two-man sprint. Before the home race at the title fights in Zurich, the 2020 World Championship bronze medallist has two more one-day races in Italy and the Tour of Luxembourg on the program from 18 September.
