Switzerland's strongest beach volleyball duo, Tanja Hüberli and Nina Brunner, will not be able to take part in the Elite 16 tournament in Gstaad.

Hüberli suffered a lumbago during strength training last week. "It was quite painful in my back and I immediately went for a medical examination," the player from Schwyz was quoted as saying in a press release on Monday. Her mobility is already "pretty good again, but unfortunately we have to miss Gstaad as a precautionary measure in view of Paris."

Hüberli and Brunner are two-time European champions and finished fifth at last year's World Championships. Last week, the duo were selected by Swiss Olympic for their second Olympic Games. Three years ago in Tokyo, the duo from Schwyz and Zug finished in 9th place.
