The ZSC Lions and the SCL Tigers also win their fifth home game of the season. Kloten, on the other hand, loses at home for the first time. The facts from Saturday.
Series of home victories continues
In this year's playoff final between champions ZSC Lions and Lausanne, the home team prevailed in all seven games. This did not change in the first duel this season: the Zurich team won 6:3. The game was decided early on, after 19 minutes the Lions led 2:0, in the 38th minute it was 4:0. Willy Riedi distinguished himself as the Zurich team's double scorer. Thanks to their sixth home win in a row against Lausanne, the Lions remain unbeaten in front of their home crowd after the fifth game of the season. Lausanne had previously won four in a row.
Kloten loses at home for the first time
It didn't do Kloten any good to be leaders in the National League for the first time since October 2013. After Friday's 5-2 defeat against Ajoie, who had previously been without points, the Zurich club now lost a home game for the first time this season, losing 5-2 to Genève-Servette. The visitors won thanks to a strong power play. They scored all three goals in the first period in overtime, the 3:1 in double time. Markus Granlund contributed two goals and two assists to Geneva's third win of the season. Teemu Hartikainen, who scored for 1:0 (6th) and provided the assist for 3:1 (18th), also scored in Servette's sixth game of the current championship.
Zug returns to winning ways thanks to efficiency
SC Bern traveled to Zug with three wins in a row, where they faced an opponent that had lost three times in a row. However, there was little sign of uncertainty among the central Swiss side. The visitors did record significantly more shots on goal than the EVZ (39:24) in their 4-2 defeat. However, the home team's efficiency was right this time and goalie Tim Wolf was in top form after some mixed performances. Zug made the difference in the middle third, which they won 2-0 thanks to goals from Attilio Biasca (21st - Bern's Patrik Nemeth deflected the puck into his own net) and the strong Daniel Vozenilek (28th). In the first period, the Bernese equalized just ten seconds after Sven Leuenberger (15.) made it 0:1 thanks to Victor Ejdsell.
Tigers still unbeaten at home
The SCL Tigers have shown two faces so far this season. While they have lost all four games away from home, they are still unbeaten at home after the fifth game. Julian Schmutz, who is in top form, had a hand in all four goals in the 4:1 win against Biel, scoring the 3:0 (30th) and 4:0 (49th) himself. Aleksi Saarela also scored twice, and the Finn also recorded an assist. Both scored for the fourth game in a row - as did Flavio Schmutz (two assists).
Fribourg's crisis comes to a head
For Fribourg's interim coach Patrick Emond - the Swede Roger Rönnberg will take over next season - things are slowly becoming uncomfortable. Gottéron conceded their seventh defeat in the ninth game of the season with a 4-1 loss at home to Davos and are still second last. The match-winner for the record champions was the new Czech Filip Zadina, who scored his second brace in the last three games with the 1:0 (6th) and 3:0 (47th). The 38-year-old Julien Sprunger (50) scored the consolation goal for the hosts to make it 1:3 (50). Last season, Fribourg had won all four duels against the HCD.
