HC Lugano has signed Czech center Radim Zohorna. The 28-year-old joins the Ticino club from the Pittsburgh Penguins on a one-year contract.
Zohorna played in the Czech league until 2021, when he was discovered by the Penguins. The almost two-meter tall forward played 68 games in the NHL with Pittsburgh, Calgary and Toronto. He played considerably more games in the various farm teams in the AHL. He took part in last year's World Championship as an international, but was absent from this year's title win.
At the same time as signing Zohorna, Lugano announced the "mutually agreed termination of contract" with Arttu Ruotsalainen. The Finnish forward scored 7 goals and 9 assists in 51 games last season.
