The team led by PSG star Achraf Hakimi outclassed Egypt, captained by former Basel player Mohamed Elneny, 6-0 in the African duel for bronze.

Former Barça youngster Abde Ezzalzouli and Soufiane Rahimi opened the scoring with a double strike in the 23rd and 26th minutes. In the second half, Rahimi, who plays in Saudi Arabia and has been successful in every Olympic appearance, scored a second time to take his Olympic tally to eight goals.

It is Morocco's first Olympic medal in football and the sixth for the African continent. Nigeria won the tournament in Atlanta in 1996 and Cameroon in Sydney in 2000.
