Daniel-André Tande triumphed 13 times in the World Cup - but above all, a serious fall shaped the Norwegian Olympic champion's ski jumping career. The consequences now lead to the end of his career.

Just under five months before the home World Championships in Trondheim, the 30-year-old announced his retirement via Instagram. He is still suffering mentally from the consequences of his serious fall on the Planica flying hill in 2021. After the accident on the Slovenian facility, which is considered the most delicate ski jumping hill in the world, Tande was in an induced coma for several days.

In 2018, Tande won Olympic gold with Norway's team in Pyeongchang. In the same year, the eight-time individual World Cup winner also celebrated his greatest individual success when he became Ski Flying World Champion in Oberstdorf. Tande also won three World Championship gold medals with the team.
