Swiss canoeist Alena Marx missed out on a medal in the single canoe. The 23-year-old from Bern came 8th in the final.
Marx managed a run without any obvious mistakes in the Olympic whitewater channel in Vaires-sur-Marne. Nevertheless, after 16th place in the heats and 11th place in the semi-finals, she was unable to improve enough to get into the medal fight. She completed the 23-goal course in 1:54.61 minutes. She was 4.66 seconds short of bronze. Nevertheless, she secured herself an Olympic diploma.
The top favorite Jessica Fox from Australia won ahead of Elena Lilik from Germany and Evy Leibfarth from the USA.
Friday will be Alena Marx's third and final chance to win a medal. In kayak cross, her strongest discipline, the European champion is one of the candidates for precious metal.
