Twelve days before the Summer Games in Paris, the Olympic flame has arrived in the French capital.
The head of the French elite equestrian school Cadre Noir, Thibaut Vallette, received the flame at the end of the National Day military parade on Sunday. The flame arrived in Marseille on May 8 and has since been carried throughout the country. Around five million spectators watched the traditional torch relay.
The handover of the Olympic flame marked the end of the military parade, which took a different route this year due to the preparations for the Olympic Games. Instead of the Champs-Élysées, the participants marched along Avenue Foch, one of the other magnificent avenues that radiate in a star shape from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The Olympic flame is to be carried through large parts of Paris by more than 500 people until Monday evening.
