Viktorija Golubic misses out on a place in the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 tournament on the grass court in Birmingham.
The 31-year-old from Zurich lost to the higher-ranked Leylah Fernandez, the world number 33 from Canada, 6:4, 5:7, 3:6.
The qualifier gave away her fourth victory in Birmingham in the second set. After winning three games in a row, the Swiss served for the match at 5:4 and failed to score a single point. In the third set, she again conceded the game at 2:4. Apart from that, she held serve safely in the third set but didn't get a break chance.
Viktorija Golubic, number 78 in the rankings, is not really getting going this year. In Birmingham, she only won a match in the main draw for the third time since her third-round exit at the Australian Open.
