Flurina Rigling wins the first Swiss medal at the Paralympics in Paris. The cyclist finished third in the 3000 m pursuit on the track.
In the battle for bronze, the 27-year-old from Zurich clearly beat the German Maike Hausberger. In 3:48.512, Rigling clearly beat the best time she had set in the morning in the preliminary heat and remained a good 2.4 seconds ahead of her opponent.
Rigling was crowned world champion in this discipline two years ago on the same track in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and already has several other titles in her palmares. Nevertheless, she was not one of the favourites, as there are fewer different categories at the Paralympics and athletes with different degrees of disability compete against each other.
