Manuela Schär is once again competing for medals in her last race on the track. The wheelchair athlete qualifies for the final in the 400 m at the Paralympics in Paris.

Schär, who has already won gold over the double distance in the Stade de France, won her preliminary heat in the T54 category; overall, the athlete from Lucerne set the second-best time of all female athletes. Alexandra Helbling and Licia Mussinelli, on the other hand, clearly missed out on qualifying for the final. The final will take place on Thursday evening at 19.35.

Shortly before that, Catherine Debrunner will also be aiming for a medal in the T53 category over the one track lap. It would be the Thurgau native's fifth in Paris.

With Marcel Hug, Switzerland even has a third trump card up its sleeve. The world record holder is aiming for a Paralympic hat-trick in the 800 m as the third fastest in the heats. Hug triumphed over the two track laps in Rio in 2016 and in Tokyo in 2021. In Paris, he is still waiting for his seventh Paralympic gold after winning silver in the 5000 m and 1500 m.
