Rigling took the lead in the 56.5 km race in the C2 category on the sixth of nine laps and reached the finish line solo in pouring rain. Her lead over Great Britain's Daphne Schrager, the winner of the sprint for second place, was over three minutes.

Rigling's record at road world championships is impressive. Since her debut in 2021, the 28-year-old has made it onto the podium in every race. She has won gold three times, silver three times and bronze twice.

Heinz Frei's impressive career came to an end in the H3 handbike race. The 15-time Paralympic champion finished in 16th place in his last World Championship race, directly behind fellow countryman Micha Wäfler. Fabian finished in 18th place.
