After the all-around, Simone Biles also dominates the first apparatus final of the gymnasts. The American won the vault final ahead of Brazil's Rebeca Andrade and her compatriot Jade Carey.
Biles set the tone early in the competition with her two vaults. The 23-time world champion scored 15.700 points for the "Biles II", which only she can perform. Only Andrade, who was already second in the all-around, came close to Biles' final score (15.300) with just under 15.000.
For the 1.42 m tall bundle of energy from Texas, this is her seventh gold medal at the Olympic Games and her third in the Bercy Arena in Paris, having already won the team competition before the all-around.
On Monday, Biles will have two more opportunities to add to her Olympic medal collection of ten. Then the finals on the balance beam and floor are on the agenda.
In the men's event, Carlos Yulo secured the Philippines' first Olympic gymnastics gold. The 24-year-old won on the floor just ahead of Israeli Artem Dolgopyat, who had won gold in Tokyo. Great Britain's Jake Jarman came third.
