Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson will only compete in the 200 m at the Olympic Games in Paris. The two-time world champion made the announcement on Wednesday.

The two-time World Championship silver medalist in the 100 m would have been one of the big favorites, together with the American Sha'Carri Richardson, to succeed her absent compatriot Elaine Thompson-Herah in the supreme discipline.

Jackson had won the important Jamaican selection competitions over 100 and 200 m at the end of June. On July 9, the 30-year-old was injured at a meeting in Hungary as a result of a calf cramp. She has not yet fully recovered from this.
