Noah Lyles will not be competing in any further events at the Games in Paris. The American will have to forgo the planned starts in the relays due to his coronavirus illness.

"I think that will be the end of the Games in Paris for me. It's not the Olympic Games I dreamed of, but they leave so much joy in my heart," Lyles wrote on X.

The Olympic 100m champion was diagnosed with the coronavirus infection on Tuesday. Lyles nevertheless decided to compete in the 200 m race, in which he finished third. He had originally planned to also compete in the 100 m and 400 m relays.
