Former steeplechase world champion Norah Jeruto has been cleared of doping by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.
The World Athletics Federation failed in its attempt to obtain a four-year ban from CAS on suspicion of blood doping against the Kenyan-born athlete, who runs for Kazakhstan. This was announced by the highest sports court on Tuesday.
The CAS rejected an appeal against the verdict of the World Athletics Disciplinary Chamber, which had acquitted the 28-year-old long-distance runner last October.
Jeruto explained blood tests deemed suspicious with ulcers and the consequences of a corona infection. After becoming world champion in the 3000 m steeplechase in Eugene in 2022, Jeruto was unable to defend her title in Budapest last year due to the ongoing investigation against her.
