Dimitri Steinmann reaches the final at the European Squash Championships for the first time.
The 27-year-old from Zurich, who came third in the European Championships a year ago, beat the lower-seeded local player Iker Pajares 3:0 in the semi-final in Cuenca, Spain, and is still without a set loss at this tournament.
However, a Swiss duel in the final came to nothing. Nicolas Müller won the first set 11:7 against the top seeded defending champion Victor Crouin, but then the Frenchman turned up the heat. Müller will now fight for bronze against Pajares on Saturday; it would be the 34-year-old from Zurich's fourth European Championship medal in the singles - he won gold in 2022. Squash will be on the Olympic program for the first time in Los Angeles in 2028.
