Team Britannia only needs one more victory to win the Louis Vuitton Cup. The Brits beat Luna Rossa in both races on the fifth day of the final and lead 6:4.
After the finalists had moved in step with each other on the previous four days of racing before Barcelona, each winning a duel, Britannia possibly took a decisive lead on Wednesday. Unlike on the last three race days, Luna Rossa was unable to counter in the second duel of the day. The Italian boat therefore needs two wins on Friday to set up the showdown on Saturday.
The winner will earn the right to challenge the current America's Cup winner New Zealand. The final, also played in a best-of-13 format, will begin the Saturday after next, October 12.
