Two days after the opening ceremony, the Swiss athletics team for the Summer Games in Paris has been finalized. The final relay places will be allocated after the meeting in Lausanne.
Charles Devantay (Lausanne-Sports), Ricky Petrucciani (LC Zurich) and Annina Fahr (LAC TV Unterstrass) will complete the 4×400 m mixed relay team, which will compete in the heats next Friday. Lionel Spitz (Adliswil Track Team), Giulia Senn and Yasmin Giger (both LC Zurich) had already been confirmed as runners.
In addition to Senn and Giger, Catia Gubelmann (LAC TV Unterstrass), Annina Fahr, Julia Niederberger (LA Nidwalden) and Lena Wernli (LC Zurich) will also be making the trip to Paris for the 4×400 m women's relay, the preliminary heat of which is not scheduled until the Friday after next (9 August).
This means that the Swiss athletics team in Paris will include 33 athletes. That is more than ever before at the Olympic Games.
