Servette's mission to defend its title in the Swiss Cup, now in its 100th year without interruption, begins with the cantonal duel against Signal FC Bernex-Confignon (2nd interregional league).

Cup finalists Lugano must travel to Promotion League club Brühl in the 1/32 finals of the Cup competition in the canton of St. Gallen. Swiss champions Young Boys face the winner of the Valais Cup, FC Printse-Nendaz from the 2nd division, away from home.

In the first main round of the Swiss Cup, Wettswil-Bonstetten - now with former national team captain Stephan Lichtsteiner as coach - will also host FC Winterthur, as they did last year. The Solothurn second division club Subingen is looking forward to the visit of FC Basel.

The matches were drawn from four regional pots. The matches in the first main round will take place from August 16 to 18.
