- Three laptops belonging to Swiss national team scouts were stolen in the run-up to the match against Germany.
- Apparently no overly sensitive data was stolen.
- A suspected perpetrator can be seen on the hotel's surveillance cameras.
"I can confirm that three laptops were stolen by SFA employees at the hotel and that the police were informed," said Adrian Arnold from the Swiss Football Association.
A theft that would make for a thriller occurred at the Maritim Hotel at Düsseldorf Airport at the weekend before the match against Germany. From Düsseldorf, seven SFA scouts will travel through Germany during the European Championship to observe and analyze opponents and potential opponents of the national team.
However, the national team has not been hit quite so badly: "The data is not data that we need immediately for precise analysis during the tournament. If it was an attack on Swiss national team data, it was an attack on the wrong team," Arnold reassures.
As "Bild" reports, at least one suspected perpetrator can be seen on the hotel's surveillance cameras. The police are searching for him. The investigation is apparently in full swing.
