The triathletes on the hunt for medals, swimmer Noè Ponti in action for the first time and Stan Wawrinka with his second-round match: these Swiss highlights are on Tuesday's Olympic program.
Tennis
Stan Wawrinka will play Alexei Popyrin (ATP 46) in the second round of the Olympic tennis tournament in Roland-Garros from around 1.30 pm. The 39-year-old from Lausanne lost to the Australian in three sets in the final in Umag last year. Wawrinka will be aiming to win two matches in a row for the first time in almost eleven months and reach the round of 16. In these, the Frenchman would face Olympic champion Alexander Zverev or the Czech Tomas Machac.
Swimming
Noè Ponti will be competing in the morning heat of the 200 m dolphin and will be trying to qualify for the semi-finals taking place on the same day. For the 23-year-old from Ticino, who won the bronze medal in the 100 m dolphin in Tokyo three years ago, it will be his first appearance in the Paris pool.
Bike BMX
Nikita Ducarroz, another Olympic medal winner, will start the Olympic tournament. The 27-year-old from Geneva won bronze in Tokyo and is competing in the freestyle qualification. The final of the best nine riders is scheduled for Wednesday.
Rowing
With Aurelia-Maxima Janzen and the four without, two Swiss boats will be in action on Tuesday. Janzen will be rowing for a place in the semi-finals in the skiff, while Patrick Brunner, Tim Roth, Kai Schätzle and Joel Schürch are hoping to qualify for the final in the hopeful heat.
Canoeing
After missing out on the final in the kayak single, Alena Marx is aiming to do just that in the canoe single. But first she has to get through the qualification. The same applies to Martin Dougoud in the kayak single scull.
