No time? blue News summarizes for you

  • The second season of "House of the Dragon" had a solid premiere with 7.8 million viewers, despite lower numbers than the first season.
  • Eve Best and Steve Toussaint praise their strong TV relationship and trusting collaboration, which also reflects their friendship on set.
  • Matt Smith and Fabien Frankel emphasize the challenge of the heavy and uncomfortable armor, while appreciating the collaboration with talented colleagues and the mixed reactions from fans.

The premiere of the second season of "House of the Dragon" may have attracted a smaller audience than the first season, but with 7.8 million viewers, the sequel to the series definitely has nothing to hide.

blue News not only met the stars of the "Game of Thrones" spin-off on the red carpet during a visit to London, they also gave a good-humored roundtable interview with the international press.

"House of the Dragon"
on blue Premium

The second season of "House of the Dragon", the hit series of the year, will be available on blue Premium from June 17, 2024. There will be a new episode every Monday. To help you prepare for the start of the season, you can already watch the first season and all seasons of "Game of Thrones" on blue Premium.

Eve Best and Steve Toussaint play the married couple Rhaenys Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon in "House of the Dragon". It's always difficult to portray a relationship convincingly - fortunately, however, this is one of the most endearing in the whole series.

Best and Toussaint are happy that their TV relationship is so unshakeable: "It's like falling into a comfy sofa. I feel safe with him as an actor and as a TV husband," says Eve Best, "especially because we were bombarded with so much grief in the first season. We lost grandchildren, children, siblings - but the relationship between Rhaenys and Corlys always remained strong."

Steve Toussaint goes one step further: "Our TV marriage reflects our friendship on set, I feel most comfortable when I'm acting with Eve."

"No, it's plastic"

In contrast to Best and Toussaint, Matt Smith ("Doctor Who") and Fabien Frankel are rivals in "House of the Dragon". In the interview, they both talk more about how lucky they are to be able to work with countless talented people.

The hardest part of the job, however, is definitely the armor: "I wish I could say the armor is metal - but no, it's plastic. But it's still heavy!" says Frankel. Smith interjects and says: "And damn, it's uncomfortable!".

The fan interaction is also interesting, depending on the success of a series, of course. Matt Smith talks about "very loving and motivating" fans, but also: "Some people just can't let go of 'Game of Thrones', some people don't like the whole genre, but basically I think we're getting the most out of the show."

You can see how the second season of "House of the Dragon" is developing every Monday with a new episode on blue Premium.
