The historian Raphael Gross considers the provenance research carried out to date by the E. G. Bührle Collection Foundation to be inadequate. In his opinion, further measures are needed to meet the requirements of the Kunsthaus Zürich.

Further provenance research must be undertaken, focusing on clarifying the previous Jewish ownership and the persecution-related confiscation of works from the Emil Bührle Collection, as Raphael Gross's research team announced on Friday.

In addition, the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft, which is responsible for the Kunsthaus, is to set up a committee to develop a review scheme for Nazi-related seizures.

This is to be applied both to the Kunsthaus Zürich's own collection and to works on permanent loan. The Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft will also be asked to conduct a discussion entitled "Emil Bührle Collection".
