Shareholders have approved the sustainability reports of Switzerland's largest companies at the Annual General Meetings by a large majority. On average, the approval rate was 97 percent, according to an analysis by the news agency AWP.

Proxy advisors, on the other hand, were far more critical of the companies in the Swiss share index SMI. The shareholders' association Actares, for example, rejected two thirds of the reports, while the Ethos Foundation rejected half of them. In most cases, this was due to a lack of transparency and an inadequate climate protection strategy.

Due to a new law, Swiss companies had to have their sustainability reports approved by shareholders for the first time this year. Among other things, the reports include information on CO2 emissions, energy consumption and the proportion of women.
