A young autistic man has been sentenced to six years in prison by the criminal court of Yverdon VD for killing his brother. The judges also ordered inpatient treatment for the man.

According to the judiciary and his parents, the autistic man, whose everyday life was dominated by video games, had lost his footing during the lockdown in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. He was no longer able to distinguish between fiction and reality. He killed his younger brother, who was also autistic, with an axe in a forest

The judges upheld the prosecution's indictment on all counts, to which the lawyers for the parents and the accused had raised no objections, as prosecutor Laurence Brenlla told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Thursday.
