There was a brief power cut in the Mattenhof district of Bern on Tuesday afternoon. The energy service provider Energie Wasser Bern (EWB) was able to rectify the fault.

The fault was rectified at 4.37 p.m., as an EWB spokeswoman told the Keystone-SDA news agency. The cause of the power outage was a faulty cable. The power was out for around one and a half hours around Eigerplatz.

The traffic lights in the affected streets were set to flashing orange, as reported by the Bärntoday news portal.

Power outages have recently become more frequent in the region and city of Bern. Last Friday, the street lighting in the west of the city failed. The week before last, a material fault caused a widespread power outage in the area around Bern and parts of the city of Bern. At the end of May, the power had already failed in the lower part of the old town.
