This was announced by the TCS via X. Traffic was also congested on the north side: Between Wassen and Göschenen UR, the line of cars was three kilometers long at 12.15 pm. Drivers had to expect a waiting time of up to 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, the alternative route via the A13 through the San Bernardino was impassable on Saturday due to the storm in the southern Graubünden valley of Misox. Due to the flooding caused by the storm on Friday evening, a section of the A13 was destroyed.

Long traffic jams regularly occur on the Gotthard at weekends. Traffic was already backed up on both sides of the tunnel on Saturday. Towards the south, the traffic jam at the north portal had reached a length of twelve kilometers by midday on Saturday.
