Zurich experienced a "normal summer thunderstorm" on Monday evening, as a spokesman for the Protection and Rescue Operations Center, which also includes the fire department, told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Tuesday night. No significant damage was initially reported.

Other regions of Switzerland, particularly the Bernese Oberland, were more severely affected by the storms. In the Bernese Oberland, several people were slightly injured and others had to be evacuated, as the Bern cantonal police reported on X. Many rescue workers were deployed, particularly in the Brienz area and the Lütschinen valleys. The police promised more information on Tuesday morning.
