A young mountaineering couple were struck by two lightning strikes in the Bernina region of Graubünden on Wednesday. The 26-year-old man crashed and fell 10 meters. He was moderately injured.

When the man's 25-year-old girlfriend alerted the rescue services, her cell phone was struck by lightning, as the cantonal police reported on Thursday. She was slightly injured.

A rescue helicopter recovered the injured and flew them to a hospital in Zurich. The mountaineers had been out in a group of four near Pontresina and had been surprised by a thunderstorm.
