The municipality of Lostallo in Misox in the canton of Graubünden held a media day and a meeting with the local population. Now that the danger and safety phases have been overcome, the damage must now be analyzed and the next steps planned, it said.

The media representatives, accompanied by the responsible forest engineer, were able to visit the debris cone of the mudslide above the village of Lostallo on Monday, according to a press release issued by the regional coordination group on Monday evening.

The storms on June 21 led to major flooding and landslides in the southern Graubünden valley. Two people lost their lives and one is still missing.

A mudslide hit the village of Sorte in the municipality of Lostallo, burying around one square kilometer of cultivated land. 290,000 cubic meters of debris and mud now have to be cleared away. The municipality has so far estimated the total damage on its territory at 38 million Swiss francs.
