Tourism European Football Championship helps record overnight stays in Germany
Due in part to the European Football Championship, accommodation providers in Germany recorded more overnight stays in the first half of 2024 than ever before.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, 223.2 million overnight stays were registered in the six months. This was almost 870,000 overnight stays or 0.4% more than in the first half of 2019, the previous record period.
June was comparatively weak with 48.7 million overnight stays. This represents a decline of 1.4% compared to the same month last year. This was solely due to the reluctance of domestic guests to travel, as 8.7 million overnight stays were reported by foreign guests thanks to football. This was 15.7 percent more than a year earlier and the highest June figure ever recorded. All accommodation establishments with more than ten beds are taken into account.
