A house caught fire in Andelfingen ZH on Sunday night. The fire destroyed the attic of the half-timbered house in the village center. According to the police, no one was injured.

According to initial findings, the fire broke out in a detached shed in the garden and then spread to the residential building, the Zurich cantonal police reported on Sunday.

The cause of the fire was initially unclear. However, the investigation is not focusing on arson, according to the press release.

According to the statement, the police received the report of the fire at 2.30 am. The fire department was able to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings and other floors of the house. The house is currently no longer habitable, the police wrote.

The affected family was given private accommodation. In the statement, the police estimated the damage caused by the fire at several hundred thousand francs.

A resident of a neighboring house was also brought to safety because of the fire. She was able to return to her apartment at around 06:00.
