The negotiations between Switzerland and the EU are on the agenda of EU ministers on Tuesday. The European Commission will inform the EU states about the ongoing talks at the General Affairs Council in Luxembourg.

"The Council of Ministers will take stock of relations between the EU and Switzerland", according to the Council's website. Vice-President of the Commission Maros Sefcovic, who is leading the talks with Switzerland on behalf of the Commission, will explain the status of the negotiations to the member states.

The ministers will then discuss the issue, said an EU diplomat in Brussels last week. He was optimistic that the negotiations could be concluded by the end of the year. According to a person familiar with the dossier who spoke to the Keystone-SDA news agency, the issue of the free movement of persons remains the main point of discussion.
