The checks were carried out as part of the international "SHIELD VI" operation. Swissmedic, the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) and the national reporting office Swiss Sport Integrity were involved. A total of 2117 consignments were checked between April and November of last year. These included 564 illegal consignments of medicinal products.
Swiss Sport Integrity is now investigating whether the importers of the doping agents have a connection to sport, as the competence center for clean, fair and safe sport in Switzerland announced on Wednesday.
If a person is subject to Swiss Olympic's doping statute, they could face disciplinary proceedings or even a ban. Irrespective of this, administrative proceedings will be initiated against the importers, the statement continued. A processing fee of at least CHF 400 will be charged.
The foundation also warns against ordering medicines or dietary supplements online. Products advertised as "miracle cures" could contain banned substances and be harmful to health. They are often of poor quality or do not contain what is declared.
