According to Palestinian reports, several people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip. Seven Palestinians died when a former school in the Tuffah neighborhood in the city of Gaza, which now serves as a refugee camp, was hit.

This was said by a spokesman for the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Civil Defense. Most of the victims were women and minors, he added.

The Israeli military announced that it had bombed a Hamas command center in the former school building. The Islamists had planned and carried out "terror attacks" against Israeli soldiers from there. The military had taken "countless steps" to minimize the damage to civilians.

Neither side's claims can be independently verified. Israel is waging a relentless war against Hamas after the terrorist militia and its allies attacked southern Israel on October 7 last year, killing more than 1,200 people.
